The Little Kamper Story

We started Little Kamper in 2014 it has gradually become a big deal. In 2018 we began selling through a small collection of Ace Hardware stores in Northern California. In 2021, Little Kamper became the only 1 lb propane tank sold in Yosemite National Park. Now you can find Little Kamper 1 lb propane tank exchange in Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Shenandoah, Grand Teton, Sequoia / Kings Canyon, Crater Lake, and Death Valley national parks. We also have a growing number of participating retailers scattered across the lower 48 United States and we’re adding new stores all the time.

BSA Promise 2024

BSA Promise 2024 is an opportunity for Little Kamper to empower the BSA to adopt a new sustainability practice that reduces propane tank waste. Our program allows BSA leaders to request one case of twelve (12) Little Kamper tanks for their group at no upfront cost (a savings of over $260.00!)

The program fulfillment will be handled through our retailer network.

If you look at our retailer map and there is a Little Kamper retailer in your community, we’ll facilitate your participation by shipping your tanks to their store. We’ll work with you to coordinate the timing of your pickup. Our intention is to facilitate communication between program participants and our retailers so you can help them provide you with great service when you need exchange tanks.

If we don’t have a participating retailer in your community, we’ll work with you to get one. Little Kamper is still new to most people but we’re already in select Ace Hardware, REI and Do It Best Hardware stores. If you have one of those stores in your community and they are not on our participating retailer map, we believe they’ll want to help you. Submit the form below and we’ll work together to get you a local Little Kamper retailer.

The BSA Promise 2024 program terms.

Participation is dependent on four simple conditions.

• The tanks will only be exchanged at participating Little Kamper retailers.
• The tanks may only be refilled by Little Kamper.
• Little Kamper agrees to provide the 12 tanks but the BSA Promise program participants agree to pay for the cost of exchange transactions.
• BSA promise program participants agree to practice proper safety procedures in the handling, transportation, storage, and use of Little Kamper tanks.

We sincerely encourage BSA leaders to participate. Our goal is to protect the outdoor spaces where we all go to escape and unwind. Little Kamper is a sincere attempt by propane industry veterans to change the way that campers use 1 lb propane because the America’s propane marketers have always used sustainable, refillable tanks. Making Little Kamper 1 lb propane tank exchange accessible through national partners like Ace Hardware, Do It Best Hardware, and REI is a huge step towards reducing tank waste in campgrounds. We will add more national retailers as they decide to join our effort to reduce waste and preserve our great outdoors!

The BSA Promise program is intended to help the next generation of American outdoor enthusiasts adopt a sustainability practice that will reduce waste and help protect our parks and campgrounds.
